USF Sarasota-Manatee One Book Event Tuesday, Feb. 8

An Afternoon Salon: Engaging “The Book Thief
February 8, 2011
4:00 – 5:30pm
USF Selby Auditorium Sarasota-Manatee
8350 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota

The event is free and open to the public

The U.S.F. Sarasota-Manatee College of Arts & Sciences and the Institute for Public Policy and Leadership are collaborating to host this interactive exploration of a book that has garnered world-wide acclaim. A semi-circular forum for the audience will allow easy interaction with a discussion panel comprised of USFSM students, who will be joined by younger teen-aged students, and senior citizens. The panel members will each describe the aspect of The Book Thief he or she found most fascinating and intriguing.

Following the panel’s reflection, the audience will be asked to contribute their thoughts about the novel’s most valuable and memorable attributes. Light refreshments will be circulated, adding to the ambiance of a true literary “salon”.

A brief video of an interview with the author, Markus Zusak, will commence the discussion. The community is invited to join in this lively discussion of a thought-provoking, award-winning novel.

USF Sarasota-Manatee Student Panel:
Paul Dunder, Jennifer Perez Lopez, Albert Richard, Brittany Stamey and Nikki Ummel
